I can't believe we really did it...We actually held Rachel's birthday party at McDonald's!
I loathe the place.
Well, I take it back...I like breakfasts there a lot,
but going inside is where I usually draw the line (I'm a germaphobic).
Our kids have probably played indoors on their toys
a total of 5 times in their whole lives.
The funniest thing is that Ronald was scheduled for a visit
just half an hour after the party started.
(I might have found that out if I had called to schedule the place,
but instead it was a total shocker.)
After Rachel finally consented to coming down from the jungle gym,
bawling from fear of the red-headed looney,
the kids all really enjoyed watching him juggle and do magic.
I guess it wasn't that bad...

I am totally with you on being disgusted by McDonalds...I don't remember the last time I went there. It grosses me out too! I am going to try my hardest to NEVER let Morgan know about the place (impossible I know, but I will give it my best effort).
I also agree with Rachel on being freaked out by Ronald. He is a little scary.
Happy Birthday to Rachel!!!
I avoid McDonalds too--but not because I am a germaphobic! The food tastes like cardboard. I take that back--on rare occasions I have been known to take a grandchild into McD's at Bellevue Square. But only on a Birthday Outing.
Rachel's picture is adorable!
Red headed looney...lol! Is that where she picked to have a party?
We had planned on having her 4 little friends over to our house on Wednesday to have lunch and a party. But after Monday when I could barely walk or drive, I decided that we would have to do the unthinkable...change it to McDonald's.
There was no way that I could clean the house, make party food, host a party and everything else that goes into even a simple child's party. I was lucky that someone in the ward drove me down to the store to get party favors for the goody bags. (And even then, I really overdid it and had to lay down the rest of that day...it has been SO hard.)
One more thing...
The saddest part is that it took some convincing to get Rachel to agree to going to McD's. On Tuesday when I broke the news to her that we were going to have to change the party, she just sobbed and sobbed and sobbed. I felt SO terrible because I still wanted to have the party at our house too, and she was crushed.
(Now, of course, she thinks it was TOTALLY cool to have a clown at her birthday party and has been saying how glad she was we had the party at McDonald's. Scary...)
Oh...I wish I could have helped you! I'm glad that someone was able to help you. Just feel good to know that at least she's happy now, even though.....
You have one year before you'll have to do it again, or at least hope that Rachal forgets . . .
Ronald McDonald would scare just about any normal person (child or adult) . . . I have some recollection about a scary show I saw on TV once when I was little about a clown under a bed which grabs a little kid . . . and turned him into a Happy Meal! No, that's not it, but still . . . scary.

Oh, I'm so sorry!! Last year we went to a birthday party at McDonald's and as horrible as it sounds, I kept thinking, "This is a white trash birthday!!" Maybe it's because the family had brought in their own food, cake, etc and just basically used their playroom. Hmmm... Rachel looks happy in her crown and that's all that matters! =)
