It's nice that I've had so many indoor tasks because it is just plain HOT! Last week the heat and humidity took it's toll on me. Being outside for swimming lessons for Seth and Rachel and then an hour later swim team practice for Eliza were brutal. You'd think that 90 degrees would be perfectly fine, but that humidity factor makes it feel like a sauna...
Have you ever noticed how painting one room makes you want to keep painting all the other dirty walls in your house?? I finished the guest room on Friday last week and now it's my favorite place in the house. (Well, my sewing table's in there, so that helps me want to be in there too...) Now I keep having visions of how Eliza and Seth's rooms could look with new paint. I'm just not sure if I have it in me to do it though...I was SO SORE all day Saturday. Shows you how out of shape I am if painting is all it takes!
Also, to be more random, Eliza had both James and I in tears on Saturday. Due to her recent pneumonia, she has had some pretty frustrating swim meets. Instead of seeing the improvement that would motivate her to keep up with swimming, her times had been getting worse and worse. Swim meets ended up discouraging her more than anything. So, it's nearing the end of her swim season and Saturday was the second-to-last meet for her. She swam her freestyle event (forward crawl, 25M) and when she got out of the water, she was handed an orange ribbon! "What's this??" she asked me, bewildered. I fought back the tears and told her that she had WON in her heat. She had knocked 5 seconds off of her time!! Then later in the meet she won in her heat at Breastroke, and knocked 15 seconds off of her previous time. It was a HUGE day for her!!

Way to go Eliza!!! Tell her congratulations from us. That is awesome!
What color did you paint your guest bedroom? We are trying to get up the courage to paint...but Jeff says he doesn't want to come home and do more work!
"Mother? Father? What is this paltry display of reward? Do they not know who I am? This is not an olympic medal!! I'll have none of this."
Just kidding. Great job, Eliza!! Congratulations!
Way to go Eliza! congrats! I bet Eliza could whoop me in swimming!
I know she could whoop me! We got the weekly newsletter from the coach and it always highlights the biggest improvements made at the meets. We were telling Eliza how great it was that she'd improved so much and she said, "Well, it's only because I swam SO bad the other week."
Nettie,
Valerie painted the room kind of a beige eggshell color..it's actually very nice...she did awesome and she did it all by herself. I supervised. ;)
